Discovering Music

With the start of my editing process it is essential that I pick out songs for my final task. I decided the best way to pick out songs was to go on the web and look for royalty/copyright free music. For the tone of the final task I wanted the music to get progressively darker and scarier. As the movie progresses. Such as having an upbeat pop song in the beginning. Then a more neutral song and then at the end a dark and chilling song. To start the first task was finding an upbeat song to use for the getting ready and hallway scenes. I went on platforms such as safari and youtube to find songs. I decided to look on Youtube. I searched Pop royalty free music. Looking through the results I clicked on different videos listening to each of them for a short bit. However none of them seemed to fit the clips the way I wanted. I finally found a song from the 1950's that matched the tone I wanted the introduction to be associated with.

Film Review

Hey bloggers! I just watched the opening sequence I made about a girl receiving strange demands to look at the moon, and I have some thoughts on it. First off, I think the concept is really interesting – it grabs your attention right away. The idea of someone being asked to look at the moon is kinda mysterious and makes you wonder what's going on. But there are a few things I noticed that could be better. For starters, I feel like the pacing is a bit slow in some parts. Maybe I should tighten up some of the shots to keep the audience hooked. Also, while the mysterious vibe is cool, I think I need to add more clarity to the storyline. Why is this girl being asked to look at the moon? Is there a deeper reason behind it? I need to explore that further. Plus, I think the visual style could use a bit more polish. I should try experimenting with different camera angles and lighting to make the sequence really stand out. And lastly, I think the music could be more atmospheric to set the mood. Overall though, I think I'm onto something cool here! With a few adjustments, I can see this opening sequence being really compelling and drawing the audience in right away. I just gotta keep working on it!

Editing Processes / Production

Editing a movie by myself on CapCut with just my iPhone was like jumping into a rollercoaster of emotions! It started off super exciting, but man, did I hit some bumps along the way. First off, figuring out how to use CapCut was way harder than I thought. I had to watch a bunch of tutorials just to understand the basics. Then came the real struggle – sorting through all the footage I filmed. It felt like searching for a needle in a haystack! Every time I thought I found the perfect clip, something would go wrong. Whether it was the lighting or the angle, there was always something off. And let's not even talk about adding music and sound effects – that was a whole other level of frustration. CapCut kept glitching, and I had to redo everything multiple times. It felt like I was stuck in an endless loop of editing and re-editing. I swear, I spent more time staring at my phone screen than I did sleeping! But hey, I refused to give up. Even when it seemed like the universe was against me, I kept pushing through. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I managed to finish editing. Was it perfect? Far from it. But hey, it was mine, flaws and all. Showing the movie to my friends was nerve-wracking, but their support made it all worth it. This experience taught me that perseverance pays off, even when things seem impossible. And you know what? Despite the struggles, I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. It's all part of the journey, right?

Production surrounding my movie opening

Filming a whole movie all alone at home with just my iPhone camera on cinematic mode was super cool but kinda challenging too! At first, I was totally pumped up with excitement to start this adventure. I turned my house into a movie set, moving stuff around to create different scenes. It felt like being the star of my own film! Since I had to do everything by myself – acting, directing, and filming – it was a bit overwhelming. But I got the hang of it pretty quickly. The cinematic mode on my iPhone made everything look so professional, like a real Hollywood movie. I spent hours figuring out the best angles and lighting for each shot. Sometimes I had to redo scenes over and over again until they looked just right. Using natural light from windows was a lifesaver! And oh man, editing was a whole new world. I had to stitch scenes together and add music to make it all come alive. Even though it was tough work, seeing the finished movie made me feel so accomplished
. I showed it to my friends and they were blown away! This experience taught me so much about creativity and determination. It's something I'll never forget, and it's made me want to explore filmmaking even more.

Tweaking my edits; An update

Welcome back bloggers! In this blog I will be discussing my editing of my short film.

Editing so far has been slightly difficult. In my last project, I was with a group and did not have the role of editing the music video. It has been new to learn editing along with filming everything myself. I began editing February 09, 2024 at home. I did not need new materials considering the plot of the movie is based around my home. I had to wait until night however, because my film takes place at 3am. I waited until around 8pm to set up my camera for my first few scenes. The film begins in the main characters bedroom. I tidied up my room and referenced my storyboard before filming. I was only able to film the bedroom scenes this night due to it being a school night. I filmed my establishing shot of the cell phone receiving messages. In order to film the notifications I had to ask my friends to send me messages based on the script. As my friends sent me the messages, I had to request the help of my mother to record the clips of the phone buzzing, since I couldn't record it from my own phone. After recording those clips, I was able to start filming the other shots. I set up my phone to film the clips of myself according to my script. After finishing filming the scenes in the bedroom, I placed the clips into a folder. I have a folder on my phone where I have placed the clips for easy access when it comes to editing my film on CapCut.

Short film editing

Welcome back bloggers! In this blog I will be discussing my editing of my short film.

Editing a movie all alone at home with CapCut and my iPhone camera on cinematic mode was like diving into a new adventure! It was pretty exciting but also kinda nerve-wracking. At first, I had no clue where to start, but after playing around with CapCut for a bit, I started to get the hang of it. Sorting through all the footage I shot was a bit overwhelming, but I took it one step at a time. CapCut made it easy to trim clips, add transitions, and even apply cool effects. I spent hours tweaking each scene to make it just right, experimenting with different filters and music tracks. It was like being a magician, turning raw footage into a cinematic masterpiece. Sometimes I had to redo certain scenes because they didn't fit the vibe of the rest of the movie. But that's all part of the process, right? Adding sound effects and background music was my favorite part – it really brought the whole movie to life! When I finally finished editing, I felt so accomplished. Showing the movie to my friends was the best part – they were totally impressed! This experience taught me a lot about creativity, patience, and attention to detail. It's something I definitely want to keep exploring in the future. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be editing movies for real!
